National grid moving
gas meter to outside
Nation Grid has been trying to move everyone's meter outside; in short, they are moving from low-pressure gas to high-pressure gas because, number one, it is safer for it to be outside when it is high pressure, and number two, it gives them more access. When they move the gas, they shut the gas off, and when they turn the meter back on before they turn on the appliances, they wait ten minutes, and if they see the needle on the meter move before they light anything, they know you have a leak, and then what they do is tell the national grid that you have a leak, and then the national grid shuts you down, and it may cost upwards of $15,000 to get your gas turned back on. So what I do is do a pressure test before they come and find the leaks, and then the city does not have to get involved, and it is a lot less expensive.
